Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick announced new guidelines to kick-start the housing market last night, saying “...Our clear plan will enable people to move home safely, covering each aspect of the sales and letting process from viewings to removals....This critical industry can now safely move forward, and those waiting patiently to move can now do so.''
Restrictions have been relaxed from today, to allow activities involved with the purchase, sale, letting or rental of a residential property.
These include
(i) visiting estate or letting agents, developer sales offices or show homes;
(ii) viewing residential properties to look for a property to buy or rent;
(iii) preparing a residential property to move in;
(iv) moving home;
(v) visiting a residential property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property (e.g. carrying out a survey)
Our office has been managing transactions to progress as far as practically possible during the restrictions and all clients and estate agents have already been notified of any progress made.
In the next few days, we are expecting that those clients who have been patiently waiting to progress their transactions will want to get in touch. To do this please email your dedicated conveyancer requesting an update or outline your specific enquiry. Include your telephone number and we will call you back within 24 hours.
Attendance at our office remains strictly by appointment only, to enable social distancing, and the well-being of our clients and staff. Any documents should be returned by post or dropped off at our post tray in our foyer area.
